Tiger Tank Profile Number 1

These fine examples of Tiger tanks come from War Picture Library 21 Airborne (published by AP publishing). Sometimes when vehicles turn up in pocket war comics they tend to be more of an idea of what a tank should look like.

However who ever had the task of illustrating this particular issue had the benefit of some good research materials at his disposal or had the opportunity to see a tank first hand.

I'm not an expert in this area but they look pretty good to me. Those who know more could no doubt point out the flaws and I am always happy to learn more about this kind of thing. Even though I think the Tiger in the drawing of the crew rushing to take on der British para-trupen looks a little large.

I intend to publish more pictures of specific vehicles and aircraft as I come across them in my collection of British war comics.

If anybody has anything specific they would like me to profile I am only too happy to oblige.

Moustache Monday!

When dealing with anybody called Henning harsh words are the only way. Despite rank, despite all good intentions, despite a well tied cravat, despite impeccable grooming and a well combed moustache some fellows will only know their place when confronted with a stern look and a well placed finger.

If you've pushed a moustache to pointing you have limited your own options and can only blame yourself for ending up in the forbidden zone.

Sometimes. Only sometimes when two moustaches are in close proximity that the obvious needs to be stated. A lesser man, with a nude top lip, would panic in a situation like this.

Even though these two are clearly foreign types they still have the tenacity and clear frame of mind to say what is needed, when it is needed.

Even with a moustache a man is sometimes confronted by demons.Not all is carried your way without a fight. This is the time to stand strong despite the taunts and threats that are brought about by self doubt. Square the shoulders and lament not on what could have been.

Yes the situation is grim and a sometimes a man must be man enough to show it. Not all is lost when a man loses his tie in the desert. Square the jaw and get ready to act!

Pocket War Comics in Spanish

Spanish Pocket War Comics! DESIERTO EN LLAMAS (Desert in Flames) was originally War Picture Library 93 Force of Arms. According to babelfish this should translate as "Fuerza de las armas". Possibly it just doesn't translate very well.

Clearly in reproducing this for the Spanish market the original War Picture Library was converted into something that was considered a 'standard size' for comic books.

I must review this one next - it looks like an absolute howler!

Moustache Monday!

Notice this man's obvious authority.Consider where does it originate? Is it the uniform? Is it the cleft chin? Is it the gloves or the gesture? Is it in his ability to look one way and point in another direction? Is it because he is a man? 
These are only clues. Only mere props to why you listen when he speaks.
If he were bereft of a moustache you would respect him for his position and his knowledge. With a moustache you clearly respect the man!

The past is a powerful and dangerous place at the best of times. It takes men's thoughts and sets them to ponder. Even the man who carries a magnificent beast under his nose, as seen here on the left, must be wise when considering its application. Charms are few and far between when considering what has happened. Only when steely determination, leather bound fist and cravat are firmly in place and perfected can the man of moustache consider Dame Fortuna and her hand maidens. Go forward. Never look back but always acknowledge the past.

So..that's how you say AAAGH! in Greek.
